Nie wiedziałem gdzie to wkleić, czy w temacie o United czy tutaj, ale koniec końców zdecydowałem się na tą drugą opcję.

We did have a special relationship with Madrid. It all started earlier, it's where the saying 'Manchester is my Heaven' came from, after Busby was offered the Madrid job. He was told by Bernabeu come to Madrid and i will give you a footballing paradise to which Busby replied the immortal lines.

Busby called Madrid after Munich, to ask about the possibility of the friendly matches. Bernabeu told Busby he had a nerve asking him for a favour after turning him down the job, he then turned to his secretary and told her to find a gap in the diary as soon as possible. Madrid offered all the players a holiday in Spain to help their recovery. It May not sound like much now. Some of the players took up the offer. To help us financially Madrid offered a loan of money, which we turned down, instead we organised the friendlies which Madrid cut their costs by 50%. We played friendlies for 5 years, Madrid played a full strength team each time, this helped financially but also allowed our team to test themselves against Europes finest and keep the players development going.

Real asked for the trophy in 58 to be awarded to us, which was refused. Madrid dedicated the trophy when they won it, to Manchester United saying it was ours.

Puskas was offered but we weren't able to sign him due to the FA ruling about players who are unable to speak English playing in the league (Not that we could afford him anyway). The same ruling which had stopped us signing him previously. We then were offered the loan of Di Stefano for the season but turned it down ( I think this was the wages one, could be wrong).

We once had a cracking relationship with Madrid, one born out of respect. Madrid were the team that showed Busby the need to play in Europe. We had a healthy rivalry and understanding. Shame Madrid (their staff really) are now a shadow of the classy side they once were. Shame "the Seeds of Friendship" seems lost forever.
